Sometimes the best moments in nature photography come when you least expect them.

With my van in the shop and most of my gear scattered in various bags, I wasn’t exactly set up for a perfect evening shoot. But something about the fading light and the call of the open desert made me grab what gear I could find and head out.

As I wandered into Red Rock Canyon, I could feel the dry desert air cooling with the setting sun. I hadn’t seen many blooms this season, and even my usual spots had been hit or miss, so I wasn’t expecting much. But as I rounded a bend, a cluster of magenta cactus blooms caught my eye, their vibrant color glowing against the golden light bouncing off the sandstone cliffs.

With the last rays of sun dipping behind the peaks, I quickly composed the shot, the prickly, defiant blooms standing tall against the rugged desert landscape.

This piece, Desert Delight, is a reminder that even in the harshest conditions, life can surprise you. It’s about finding those moments of beauty when you least expect them, even when the odds seem against you.

• Metal prints are packaged using padded spacers and custom-fit materials to keep them secure. For larger metal pieces, custom-built wood crates are used to provide additional protection and ensure stability throughout shipment.

In the rare event that your artwork is damaged during shipping, I will replace it at no cost to you.
